Patient Testimony

Hello! Gabriel Langdon here, affectionately known as Gabe to my people. When I was 2 years-old I was blessed to be helped by Dr. Ward and his amazing team at Johnston Animal Hospital. On May 1st, I decided that a big, white truck was too much of a threat; and I needed to protect my territory by running into Highway 210. I was struck by a car which then sent me reeling into a pick-up truck. I ran through my underground electric fence to get into the highway and then had to pass back through it to get to my Mama. Immediately my mom called my dad and they took me to the after-hours emergency Vet hospital. While there the doctor took x-rays of me and found out that I had broken my pelvis. On May 2nd, I was examined by Dr. Ward at Johnston Animal Hospital and my surgery was scheduled for the very next day, May 3rd. Dr. Ward performed a reconstructive hip surgery on me called a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO). This reconfigures my hip joint after my traumatic event to reduce my pain. I hung out with Dr. Ward’s amazing staff for a couple of days and returned home. Within a week, I was putting my foot down and using my leg to walk. (May 7 video) Five days later, I continued to improve my gait and gained strength. (May 12 video) By one month after surgery, I was walking smoothly and sitting pretty on my repaired hip. (June 2 video) Now, four months post-surgery, I am walking, running, climbing stairs, and my shaved hair has almost completely regrown (YAY!). (August 26 video) I would like to say a great big Thank You to Dr. Ward and his phenomenal team for taking such great care to ensure that I returned to my healthy self!!
